Under the supervision of China Customs, two used hydraulic main pumps from Volvo Construction Equipment successfully arrived from the central warehouse in Ghent, Belgium, at Volvo CE’s Shanghai Remanufacturing Center.
This marks a milestone achievement for the Shanghai facility, following its official qualification at the end of 2023 to import finished remanufactured products under new regulations granted by China’s Ministry of Commerce. This regulatory breakthrough injects strong momentum into Volvo CE’s sustainability strategy in China and represents a major step forward in establishing an Asia-based remanufacturing hub.
The imported cores will now enter Volvo CE’s rigorous remanufacturing process. Backed by more than 80 years of global remanufacturing expertise, Volvo will restore these used components into high-performance, high-quality remanufactured products. These components offer customers in the Asian market a more cost-effective and eco-friendly solution.
This successful approval and import plan highlight Volvo CE’s outstanding capabilities in R&D, quality control, and environmental standards. It also reflects recognition from authorities and industry leaders for Volvo's commitment to driving green transformation within the construction equipment sector.
Established in 2013, the Shanghai Remanufacturing Center is one of Volvo Group’s eight global reman hubs. It serves over 100 product models across eight categories and also supports collaboration with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta. Looking ahead, Volvo’s remanufacturing efforts are expected to make even greater contributions to sustainable development, offering innovative and green solutions to customers throughout China and the broader Asian region.
